Craig Ogden is one of the world’s finest classical guitarists. He is known both for his No. 1 chart-topping CDs for Classic FM and for his virtuosic concerto performances with orchestra, as a chamber musician and soloist at major venues around the world.
Craig Ogden’s Guitar Weekend at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester runs from Friday 20 January until Sunday 22 January 2017. This years Guitar Weekend includes the film screening of Musicwood, which is a real-life adventure-filled journey and political thriller, followed by a concert of Miloš Karadaglic on the Friday evening.
The Saturday will be filled with a Guide to Guitar-making, a specialist performance of 21st century music for guitar, a composer-guitarist showcase and workshop and Pop Up Poetry.
On Saturday evening you have the occasion to see Jacqui Dankworth and Craig Ogden in concert. Jacqui Dankworth is one of the most highly regarded vocalists in the UK.
On Sunday the weekend culminates in a family-friendly concert featuring a massed guitar orchestra of players of all ages and abilities performing a brand new composition by Callum Dewar. You can either participate as a player or in the audience.
The weekend finishes with a guitar social, Performers from the day’s events, including Craig Ogden, will mingle in the main foyer to give the audience and jamboree participants a chance to meet and greet them informally.
Saturday 21 January
10:30 am: A Guide to Guitar-making & Guitar-makers
10:30 am/11:30 am: Music and sensory play session for babies and toddlers.
1pm: Lunch time concert – Specialist performers play 21st century music for guitar including music by Nicholas Maw, Christopher Fox and others.
2:30 pm: Composer-Guitarist Showcase & Workshop
4:30 pm: Pop Up Poetry
8pm: Concert – Craig Ogden and Jacqui Dankworth
