Following the AGM in January this year, we are going back (for those who remember) to have two different meeting formats:
Players who are interested in either format can only join one of the evenings per month; but we encourage everyone to take place in both.
We especially aim at a more focused ensemble practice with assigned parts for each player and with the view to work towards a performance. Ensemble pieces are guitar quartets and arrangements for guitar quartets. We currently have at least two guitars per part and hope to grow the ensemble further.
Playing with other musicians is a rare opportunity for classical guitarists the Liverpool Guitar Ensemble provides an opportunity for gaining such an experience. We are working on several pieces as an ensemble together under the guidance of our musical director. The aims include: playing in time collectively; playing dynamics together; approaching complex rhythms in unison, playing counterpoint parts and working together towards an ensemble performance. Players are assigned specific parts which they are expected practice and work on for the ensemble. These will cater for all grades.
