2020

As for many this year has been due to the current pandemic a setback for the Liverpool Guitar Society. What should have been a year celebrating our 10th anniversary and the start of our new musical director, Mark Houghton, leading the ensemble ended for many (and in the best case) with solo playing only and online concerts. We are  meeting online once a month, thus being able to have a bit of discussion, catch up with each other and enjoy each others playing. The ensemble playing, more personal interactions and performances are greatly missed.

This year is slowly coming to an end and we are hoping to resume ‘normal’ activity sometime during 2021, we still have one player’s evening on the 17th and are also looking forward to what for many will be the only live concert of this year. Our patrons, the Katona twins will be playing a (socially distanced) concert on the 15th December in the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Peter and Zoltan send us a small message prior to the concert:

“We are extremely happy that our first concert after lockdown is happening in our home city Liverpool. Possibly the only good news about the Covid misery is that we will get to play at the Philharmonic Hall again. It would be brilliant to get a pint across the street after the concert but we wouldn’t bet on it…still it would be great to see you at the Phil! In the meantime keep plucking away!”

Have a peaceful end of the year, stay save and hopefully see you all in 2021!
